Settling at Settlers

Work done today: Nil.

I was in LEP Room for 2 hours after the HCL paper 2 mock exam, but I did nothing. Except to fall asleep on the hard sofa while reading some literary magazines. After 30-45 minutes of sleep, Bishan, Elena and I left for home. Elena was bugged by the sleeping bug too, so the only one who did constructive work was Bishan. Never mind, I told myself I will do some Maths after I get home. That was before I knew what was in stall for me.

When I reached home, my brother was just about to leave for Settlers Cafe for the job training. My father was supposed to show him the way there but since he wasn't sure, he got me to go along. Not that I really mind, I'm just wondering if I should be spending my time like this at this crucial period. Nonetheless, I got into the cab with them. Actually the job training was supposed to be next Monday but since there are 2 new staff today, might as well train together. I brought my xiaoshuo notes there, thinking that I might be able to study there as the cafe is usually relatively free on weekdays as compared to weekends. I ended up joining in the briefing. The cafe was full-house on both storeys and I can't find a place to house my butt. The only thing I can do was to get up and join the trainees. Well, the briefing and training were ok, I quite enjoyed it, except for the memorising part. Just imagine memorising everything about the cafe from the operation to the mission to the expectations of staff to the package deals to the menu to the blending of all 35 drinks... (and the list goes on) Pardon me, that was a run-on sentence... Of coz' nobody expected us to have photographic memory and store all the information fed to us in our brains. We will just have to gradually familiarise ourselves with all those stuff. The hands-on session on drinks blending was fun. Mabel assigned me to blend chocolate milkshake while my brother made green geiser. We also learnt with the other 2 girls, how to make mocha and pink lady. I'm still very fascinated with the mocha! Oops, speaking of which, I forgot how to make the pattern on top of the mocha already! Oh well.... I expected myself to forget some things coz' I honestly feel that I shouldn't use too much brain cells today in the cafe instead of on my studies. All those memory stuff can wait until after A-levels. Now my memory is to be used on memorising laws and formulae.

Oh, I think this is the 3rd time I'm blogging about Mabel's baby's gender. She told us before we left that she is expecting a baby boy. Yes, boy. I assumed this time the scan results is rather confirmed. I really wonder what that gynaecology clinic is up to. I'm blacklisting it and will not recommend it to my relatives. They had to take ultrasound scans 4 times and it seemed that each time the person doing the scans had different conclusions. 1st time: boy, 2nd time: girl, 3rd time: girl, 4th time: boy. If I were the mother, I would definitely freak out. I won't mind the gender of the baby, but this kind of conclusions makes me fear for the baby. Why is it that the gender can't be told after 4 scans though this kind of thing cannot be 100% confirmed? At least other gynae can tell the patients consistent scan results... You bet I'm going to inquire from Mabel the clinic's name. I wonder if the couple will name their baby boy (let's just hope it is confirmed) 劭安. Heh heh I thought of this name... "劭" means good morals and character. They wanted their baby boy to have a "安" in the name and a "心" for a girl's name. They gladly handed this arduous task of thinking the Chinese names to me. I thought of quite a number of names but some got rejected due to personal preferences of the baby's family. Mabel likes the name Shao'An... Meanwhile I'll just continue to rack my brains for a good name whenever I'm free.
