There was this question in HQ's Changing Landscape survey I filled in last night: How often do you get in touch with nature? Well, I embraced nature for the whole afternoon today. If you see me in school next week, you can request to have a look at my 4-tiered left arm. Hand: dark; wrist: fair (coz' of watch); arm: dark; a little below the shoulder: fair (coz' of sleeve). Don't expect to see me without my specs too, coz' I have 'white' circles around my eyes (stupid specs). And for the remaining months to come, I shall suffer under the torching sun, wearing long pants. Why? I wore 3/4 pants today.... Did you guess it? Yeah, the lowest 1/3 of my calves are burning red. I think I'll freak out if I see myself with legs that are 2-toned O_o I hate uneven tan. My arms are like, the front half is red but if you see my back view my arms are actually fair -_-
Oops sorry, just realised I've been yak-ing non-stop about my charcoal-ed body that I didn't even say what caused it hahaz... Actually I went 'prawn-ing' at Kranji Reservoir with PY, Michelle & Faith. Haha got to know 1 new friend (Faith) :) 'Prawn-ing'? What's that? Fishing for prawns. Haha. Ok I know. Lame. But that's the word we use for this activity lah. Actually I think the 'prawns' don't look like prawns. It kinda looks like crayfish more than prawns coz' of the shell and body. But it's quite small compared to the crayfish I see on my dinner plate. By the way, does crayfish have pincers? Lol~ This 'prawn/crayfish' does. So I don't really know what it is. And we were there the whole afternoon, BBQ-ing under the scorching sun to fish for a mysterious creature -_-
Anyway the prawning. We used squid as bait. Haha we were so scared of the black ink squirting out when we cut the squid. Well, we dirtied the floor with the ink but.... Shhhh.... Nobody knows it's us ;) As for the results..... Empty-handed. Hey. It's not easy to catch one ok. Stupid prawns keep gnawing away at our sotong bait and pulling it into the spaces between the rocks. When we pulled up the fishing line (it's manual, i.e. no rod. Our arms are the rods) the prawns were so fast in releasing their pincers from the bait! =( But honestly, each time I felt a big tug at the line my heart jumped. Some prawns are REALLY strong. So strong that we were all shocked that my bait came up not only without the prawn, but also with a huge piece missing. You know, sotong is very hard to tear apart, especially for a creature that small. But I think that one was a very big one (it was hiding in the rocks so I can't see it). It tugged so hard that the fishing line kept slipping through my hands despite me pulling it real hard. Was the prawn trying to cut my fingers with the fishing line coz' it was wound round my fingers?
But overall we had fun lah. PY and I wandered off in the later part to play and take photos around the area. May post up some pics later on. I posed for many stupid photos today haha... But I didn't do the pose that I wanted to do most. No rewards for guessing correctly what that pose is. There was a playground there =) Yeah yeah, I'm reliving my childhood times. Actually I was a little scared to come down the slide. It was quite steep! And also coz' it has been like, 10 years since I last came sliding down a slide. I have a phobia for heights, even though the height is low. Still, it was fun when I slid down lah =) The see-saw was VERY high too. Kinda scary... But we sat on it still. Very fun! But I was screaming hahaha.... There were people there some more. But I didn't care =p They must be thinking, "crazy woman broke loose from somewhere". Indeed, I myself find it ridiculous to be screaming while playing the slide and see-saw -_- Ok lah, the screams were not continuous and not very loud/piercing. More like those you make when you are enjoying a theme park ride. Yeah, so I get easily excited. Too bad no time to play the swing...
So..... Anyone wants gathering at Kranji Reservoir next time? *winks* I'm on, even though I won't catch anything. Coz' it's the process that I enjoy. I won't want to bring back those crustaceans either coz' they look scary to me. I've been praying not to dream of them tonight... Side-track a bit, Botanical Gardens also a very good place to visit =) Can see swans! Lol~ One of my fav places to visit.
